Brass Tea Set Gift Box – Kettle, 2 Tumblers & Strainer | Diwali Gifts

The Brass Tea Set is a boxed gift set for making and serving tea at home. It has a small hammered brass kettle, two hammered brass tumblers, a brass tea strainer and two Madur grass coasters.

Everything comes in our Suprabhatam – Jasmine Scented Morning gift box. Inside, you'll find a "Journey of Tea in India" card, a short brewing note and a few reflection cards. The kettle is lined with kalai (tin) inside, so you can boil tea in it and pour it straight to the table.

We made this set for people who start the day with a cup of chai. It suits Diwali gifting for tea lovers and corporate gifting for employees and clients.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can I boil tea on the stove in this kettle?
Yes. It works on a gas stove. It doesn't work on induction without a converter plate. The handle gets hot, so use a cloth to hold it.
2. Why is the kettle lined with kalai?
Kalai is a thin layer of tin on the inside. It stops brass from reacting with milk, tea and other drinks. Brass vessels used for cooking or boiling are traditionally lined this way.
3. How many cups of tea does the kettle make?
The kettle holds 500 ml. That fills the two tumblers about twice, or makes 3 to 4 small cups.
4. Can I make masala chai with milk in it?
Yes. Boil the water, tea, spices and milk together in the kettle, then strain the tea into the tumblers. Don't leave tea standing in the kettle for hours.
5. What should I do when the kalai wears thin?
Kalai wears down slowly with use. When the brass starts to show through inside, a local kalaiwala (tinsmith) can re-coat it quickly and at low cost.
6. How is this different from the coffee sets in the Suprabhatam range?
The coffee sets come with a brass filter and davara tumblers. This set is made for tea, with a kettle for boiling and a strainer instead.
